Bronze Torus with Cross-Cap, carved out of styrofoam and cast solid by “styrofoam perdue”, was carved to its final status with tungsten carbide burrs. The gleaming reflective quality of the polished bronze surface completely changes the presence of the sculpture from a hushed monolith of marble to a piece which interacts with the observer, changing color and patterns momentarily according to the motion surrounding it. It is no longer a solid form, but one invaded by chance encounter. The space occupied by the sculpture and that of the viewer have coalesced into one. Light fragments its mirrored sheath, producing abrupt chiaroscuro. No longer contained in a single space, it is dynamic and fluid.
